When our son was first diagnosed with food allergies, one of my biggest challenges was that he couldn’t eat anything with corn in it.  Corn seems to be in e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. in one form or another.  The good news is that it’s a good challenge!

Powdered sugar was one of those things that had the sneaky corn in it.  Powdered sugar from our normal grocery store has cornstarch in it to keep the powdered sugar from sticking with humidity.  However, this recipe for homemade powdered sugar doesn’t have cornstarch. Homemade powdered sugar can be made ahead.  It may clump up slightly because it doesn’t contain cornstarch, but just press out the clumps with your hand before measuring for a recipe.

Homemade Powdered Sugar

Ingredients

  • 1 c. white granulated sugar

Instructions

In a blender or food processor, blend 1 c. sugar on high for 5-10 minutes until sugar is the consistency of powdered sugar.
